5Awsome Carb for a great price...  Jul 31, 2006 By Eriamjh "(don't try to pronounce it)"
Sixties Lincoln owners out there need to know that this is the carb you need for your 430 or 462 Lincoln with a 4-barrel. It is a 600cfm carb tuned for street performance and economy that is essentially the same design as the original carb.

The Edelbrock design uses the Carter AFB design with some improvements made over the last 35 years. Edelbrock bought out Carter some time ago and got the tooling. It's a bolt-on with little or no mods to make to get your Lincoln running. On some Lincolns, you have to grind a little bit of the throttle brackets. My '66 required NO MODS whatsoever for this carb to work.

One note: the fuel inlet is on the passenger side instead of the driver's side, so you either need to bend a new fuel line or buy a the 90 degree fuel line kit to make it fit under the air cleaner. Since you can't see the carb or the fuel line under the air cleaner, it all looks stock anyway.

With free shipping, you can't beat Amazon's price, which ties two other places for the lowest price online. Don't pay $400 for a "Brand New Carter Carbureter" at a classic Lincoln parts seller. Buy this carb here and be satisfied with the easiest carb swap you can make.

5It works easy  Apr 15, 2010 By Angry Bald Guy "Angry Bald Guy"
I am no motor head, but this carb went in with no problems and worked like a charm. The installation DVD made it near idiot-proof. I had to adjust the idle a little, but that was more of a preference thing. Highly recommend this carb to anyone who needs a reliable user-friendly replacement.

5Edelbrock 1406 Carburetor  Jun 29, 2009
I've been using Edelbrock Performer Series carburetors for almost 15 years now. They are reliable and easy to adjust or modify to meet a stock or modified engines needs for best fuel related performance. Kits are readily available to rejet your carburetor to meet 'special needs' or performance issues.

I like the fuel bowl design since 'leaks' are NONEXISTENT, unlike with some Holly and other models. The electric-choke operates smoothly and is easy to adjust for various climates or conditions. I definitely recommend the Edelbrock Performer Series carburetor that matches your engines requirements.

5Great carburetor for breathing life into an old engine.  Jan 11, 2011 By Matthew
I purchased this carburetor in hopes of fuel economy and power, not to mention as a replacement for a 26 year old Rochester quadrajet. The installation was a little tricky because of old emmision devices. but once you over came those its incredibly simple. I was once gliding to speed but now i have a rocket. Under load it has no problems performing, and with the turn of the screw you can turn it from fuel economy to maximum power. I do have one issue with this. My tires want to break away and spin. I recommend an adapter or spacer for any engine because it has a huge affect on response. Easy to tune, great performance, and a great deal. This product has breathed new life into a tired 305.

5Don't buy endurashine model.  Apr 03, 2011 By R. Howell
I have used 3 1406 carbs over the years on different cars. all were very easy to set with years of keeping a tune. My last 1406 I payed extra for the Endurashine model. It was for a car that gets driven less than 1000 miles a year. The first year the top started turning yellow. the second year flakes of clearcoat started to peal off and get sucked into the carb!! I called Edelbrock and they "rebuilt my carb". It returned looking the same crappy yellowish and flaking. I still had the same problem after the rebuild. I was soo mad and switched to Holley for awhile. I just want to let you know that the 1406 carb works good as long as you dont get the Endurashine model. I currently have an old 1406 with no Endurashine that I rebuilt on my mustang.
