This kit is expensive simply because it is for both the performer and thunder avs carbs. the instructions need to be a little bit clearer and the images enlarged. other than that this kit is easy to use because everything is bagged up together so you get about 10 bags from this kit.

If a rebuild kit is what you need and you have an Edelbrock Performer 1406, then this is the kit for you. The instructions (which you can preview online) and the kit are very complete for the basic rebuild. My carb came with my car and I had a feeling that it was underperforming. The process of rebuilding it using this kit showed I had some fibers (not sure where they came from) in the secondaries and a thorough cleaning and replacement of the failure items included in the kit had me back up and running in no time. A great kit from a great company!

From my experience rebuilding my edelbrock carb with the rebuild kit I find it easier & cheaper to just buy a new carb. My reasons is that after the rebuild I found that I needed a new accelerator pump, then I needed new squirters, then I needed new jets. Its just cheaper to buy a new carb after all that stuff ( after you consider tuning & adjusting the carb & shipping costs ). That's my 2 cents !!!

Kit is Edelbrock brand so everything fits my carb, which is a modified Weber. The only thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars is the price, $45 with S&H seems like a lot for a handfull of gaskets, o-rings and clips.
