Description

The Edelbrock/Russell Speed Bleeder replaces the original bleeder valves in calipers and wheel cylinders with a spring-loaded one-way ball and check valve design. This unique check ball design opens to allow the old fluid and air out and closes automatically between the pumps preventing the old fluid and air from re-entering the line. A special coating on the speed bleeder threads keep it from admitting air into the system and keeps expelled air and fluid out. The check ball is centerless ground 410 stainless steel which resists corrosion and galling. It features a patented thread sealing system that displaces air and moisture during thread engagement as well as eliminates air from being pulled back into the system during bleeding.

5Speed Bleeders ROCK !!!  Nov 17, 2009 By T. Dewey "snipes1168"
Speed bleeders work great, period. Take a hard job that requires two people and do it your self in a few minutes.

I replaced steel lines on my GM truck and saved a $100 trip to the dealer to get the air out of the ABS unit. The speed bleeders allow you to pump the pedal fast enough to get the air out with out paying to cycle the valves in the ABS unit.

They were an exact match as the original OEM bleeders.

Also, to the guy that broke his bleeder off, just send in the caliper to Speed Bleeder and they will remove the broken one, replace it with a new one and send it back to you for FREE.

My next set will be Stainless Steel to avoid rust.

4Perfect fit  Jan 15, 2009 By RobertL
I installed these on my 1997 Outback ... fit was perfect ... was easily able to do a brake flush by myself ... I took one star off because the package did not include any directions for installation or use ... it's not that hard to figure out, but still ... BTW, there are two bleeders in the package, a detail left out of the description above.

1Work but issues with seat shape, strength  Jul 19, 2009 By StealthLS2
I have used Russell Speed bleeders on several cars. They are an okay compromise if you must bleed brakes yourself and / or don't have a pressurized / vacuum bleeding tool and / or need the convenience for frequent track-side bleeds as I do. The internal check valve does work as promised but several of mine have leaked after many bleeding cycles, so I consider this an eventual wear item. The main reason for my single star rating is that they are more fragile than stock bleeders. There are no directions so during a recent install I torqued them to the factory original specs per my service manual, only to have one snap off, thus ruining my caliper and causing a very expensive repair. Another negative is that the seat angles are not identical to stock, so once installed they gall the seat in such a way that you may not be able to reinstall a stock bleed screw without leaking. In the end I'm no longer using them on current or future cars.

5Fantastic. Better option than brake bleeding kits.  May 23, 2011 By J.B. White
Highly recommended.
I originally bled my brakes the old standard way - open the valve - have a buddy press the brake peddle down - close the valve - release the peddle - repeat, repeat, repeat. Ugh, what a pain, and I ended up with a little air in my lines despite our best efforts. Brake bleeding kits are expensive for the good ones. I decided to give these speed bleeders a try instead of buying a bleeding kit. Wow, they are fantastic. Simply unscrew the old bleeder valves and screw in the new ones until they are snug tight. Then unscrew a half turn to open the valve. Attach a clear plastic tube to deposit the expelled brake fluid into a bucket. Pump the brakes until the desired amount of brake fluid has been expelled. Remove the hose and snug tighten the speed bleeder and you are done. I flushed a large container of brake fluid through all four wheel's brake lines in a few minutes. Now bleeding the brakes is a simple and fast one-person job.

Note: Each package contains two speed-bleeders. ($30 per vehicle is a great value)

2be very cautious of these  Oct 20, 2011 By B. Fraley "bmf 521psi"
I liked these at first, installed 3 without any problems.
The fourth kept blowing out brake fluid and I kept tightening.
Returned item and purchased another pair.
the next one worked fine UNTIL the next day when I applied my brakes and the pedal went to the floor.
Yes, brake fluid all over the place, removed the speed bleeder went back to the safer original bleeder.
Did not want this to happen while traveling at high speed and needing to depend on my brakes to stop.....
