Exhaust Pipe Expander Dec 03, 2008
By Bummler This tool is well made. It works fairly well, but I wouldn't recommend using it more than occasionally. It requires an air impact wrench, and a lot of air pressure around 160 psi for several minutes. You have to keep it well lubed with anti-sieze paste. you should keep rotating the tool in the pipe, loosen it, rotate, tighten, repeat, or it will stretch the pipe out of round. Also wear ear plugs! You will also have to buy an additional extender at about $20, if you are working on anything larger than a compact car.

heavy duty Feb 04, 2010
By cklock ive owned a few expanders over the years, mostly used to remove crimps left behind from clamps. anyone who turns wrenches for a living knows what im talking about, this expander should last me a long time, i grease it well and clean it and have royally beat it up, dont expect to be swedging cold stainless pipes to fit together, but it will expand standard pipe like butter, i ordered a few adapters to go up to 3 1/2" , ive used them on stainless , take care of it, clean it and grease it well. i prefer to use heavy synthetic bearing grease vs. antiseize, the antiseize turns to soup under the heat when you are driving it with an impact and im not sure the bearing will take the heat using antizeize. i also clean and PACK the bearing after each use. ive owned about 12 expanders over the years, all of which either stripped or exploded, this has a nice heavy greasable bearing. wish i had this 15 years ago. im quite happy with it

Lisle 34400 Expander Aug 24, 2009
By Thomas F. Parrish Jr. the tailpipe expander worked like it is supposed to. You do need to grease the inside of the pipe, it does take an impact wrench to make it work, and it is slow, but if you need to expand a pipe just a little, slow is good.
Tailpipe Strecher Mar 22, 2011
By Carl G. Holmlblad Used it to stretch a 2" mild steel pipe. It works and wasn't damaged but you need a breaker bar to get the torque to strech the pipe. The effort to stretch a stainless steel pipe might be past with the DIY can generate.
